Entering a split transaction (Expense) and once I get to more than say 4 or 5 lines the whole interface gets really choppy then freezes (eventually) and then crashes!

I spent almost 40+ minutes trying to enter a split transaction, that should have only taken me 10 - 15 min tops.  I have to wait 2 - 3 minutes for each line to populate after I enter it on my keyboard.  Ultimately the whole web page crashes and I lose everything.

This is NOT a system issue.
13th gen i7
16 GB RAM
1 TB SSD

wifi signal is strong.

ALL OTHER PAGES (AND DEVICES ON THE NETWORK) ARE WORKING FAST!

This is a Quickbooks Issue and I noticed this same issue started a few months ago and it's really frustrating when I'm wasting 40 - 60 minutes to enter something that should take 10 - 15, just to have it crash out and I have to start all over again.

Hi info964,

Thanks for reaching out to us in the Community! I'd like to start off by troubleshooting the bug you're encountering when entering an expense to determine if it's a browser-related issue. Clearing cache and cookies is a great way to clean your browser allowing it to work more efficiently. Here's an article that shows you how to do that: Clear cache and cookies.

In case this error persists, I encourage you to contact our support team so they can assist you further with this. Here are our contact details:

  • Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?) in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > enter "Contact support" > choose Contact Us > provide a brief summary > select Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
  • Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

I'll be one message away if you need further assistance.

I have the same issue. Has this been solved? What do I do? I have cleared my cookies, restarted my computer, tried different browsers, tried incognito mode, etc. Nothing works and it still freezes when I get past 4 or 5 lines.

I have had the same issue. Trying to edit and input multiple lines in a split transaction becomes very slow after more than about 15 lines. Also tried different browsers, clearing caches and cookies, disabling browser efficiency modes and restarts. Did QB support respond with any different solutions?

This seems to be an issue on their end.

QBO was not able to help me, even after a lot of back and forth. I figured it out on my own. When I am going through all the transactions and there is one that needs to be split, I do not split it. I just add it in as the total amount into any account and ensure it is the correct Supplier or Customer. Then I go to that Supplier or Customer's page and "Edit" the transaction. I can change everything, have as many lines as I want in there, and no freezing. This way is thankfully only a few extra clicks.

Thank you for the tip and reply, much appreciated.

I will have to give this a try next time I have to post a split transaction.
