How switch client from QBO to Quickbooks Self Employed?

QBSE is a stand alone product. You have to manually migrate data and run the bank feeds if required.

How switch client from QBO to Quickbooks Self Employed?

Hi there thevisionpullsyou,

I love that you and your clients are using QuickBooks to make doing the books for your business' even easier. Sometimes a client may need something a little simpler and with a few less features than QuickBooks Online, and in that case I can see how moving over to our Self-Employed option would make sense. Let me go over this with you.

As @Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned in their reply above, QuickBooks Self-Employed is a standalone product. You can't directly migrate from QBO to QBSE. Your client will need to export any of the data they need from QuickBooks Online and save it, then connect their accounts to the bank feeds in QuickBooks Self-Employed to bring their transactions in. It's not a straightforward process, and will require categorizing transactions again that they've already categorized in QBO. I have a few articles that might help you out with the process:

If your client is looking to make the switch for financial reasons, I suggest looking into the options to downgrade. If your client is using QBO Essentials or Plus and haven't turned on Multicurrency, they'll be able to downgrade to SimpleStart to save money. This means they won't have to worry about starting fresh in a new software, and can keep their existing data. All the steps can be found here: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

If you have any other questions or need a hand with any of this, don't hesitate to reach out here, or by contacting QuickBooks Self-Employed support once your client makes the switch. Have a good weekend!
