My client often pays bills prior to making the bills available to me to enter. As a result I have several bill payments recorded that don't have bills applied against them. I do this so I can reconcile the bank account without waiting for the bills.
I would like a report that could let me know which suppliers have unapplied bill payments. Is there one or is there another way to find this out without having to look at each payment made to each vendor?
Thanks.
Hello Janetq,
Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks offers a variety of reports that help you streamline your work with ease. I'll be happy to share more info so you can continue to do the things you love.
Based on what you've described, I recommend checking out the Transaction Detail by Account report. Once you've opened this report, you can filter it so you can view the bills. To do this, click on Customize > Add a checkmark beside Transaction Type, and search and add Bill > Scroll down and add a checkmark beside A/P Paid, and click Unpaid > from here you can run the report so you can view the info unpaid bills in QuickBooks. In case you need to customize/filter the report, here's an article that shows you how to do that.
I also encourage you to check out this article here that goes over the: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.
Let me know if this info helps. I'll be one message away in case you need further assistance. Otherwise, I wish you a great rest of the week.
Hi James.
Thanks for the info but all I see when I follow your instructions is just another way to look at outstanding bills. What I don't see are payments to suppliers that haven't been applied yet.
More help please.
Janet
