So, I started a chat about my problem, and someone called me. On the phone for over 1/2 an hour, after connecting to my computer remotely, the outcome he came up with was that apparently my updates were not working and that my files were 87% damaged. In order for them to fix these problems they of course wanted money?

I asked why it was in U.S. dollars and was told that it is always u.s. dollars.
I would have thought that this service would be free???????

As previously advised, the QuickBooks Tool Hub is recommended, when you need to fix your QuickBooks Desktop program. It was a scammer pretending to be an Intuit engineer. Check your local drive. Do you have more than one *.qbb and *.qbw files? If you still need a remote assistance, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA . They are a reputable service provider in the community.
Where would I find the *.qbb and *.qbw files

To locate your company data files, select the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of your computer screen, then type a search value, such at the options listed here.

Thanks, I've done that. On the *qbb it shows file from Apr. 16 2024 same with the *.qbw

Just an fyi. I found that in the mornings, when going on my computer that quick books would open up automatically. Never did that before. While I was searching for the *.qbb and *.qbw files
I did find something else. LM1_Rescue-srv in my program files. I assumed it was something that was downloaded when I was doing a remote thing from a presumably quick books expert. I have since deleted that file, and have not had the problem of quick books opening up- automatically anymore. Have not had time to do any of the solutions I have been given yet, but hopefully today will be able to do that. Thanks
