One problem, I can not get into my quick books. Everytime I try it wants to do a software update and that keeps failing.
the email (the last one) I got for the latest version of quick books was October 2023. Dont know if the lic. number and product number would be the same. Also, since I can't get into quick books, I can not do a back up.
Hello there, Mary53.
Let's work together to ensure you can get your license number in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Before we proceed, could you please let me know if you're seeing an error message that prevents you from accessing your QuickBooks? Any additional information you can provide can help us resolve your concern effectively.
However, if your QBDT still won't open, let's run some troubleshooting steps using the QuickBooks Toll Hub to resolve the issue.
You can follow the steps below:
If you're unable to find the icon on your desktop, you can use the search function in Windows to locate the program and select it.
You can check this article for further information: Run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
On the other hand, the license number and product number remain the same for the same version of QBDT. Once you have registered your product online, you can retrieve your license number by visiting this link: Accounts Management Portal (CAMPS).
Once you can get in, ensure to back up your company file so that whatever happens in the future, you have the original copy.
If you have any other questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out.
Can you login to CAMPS and find your license code there?

I appreciate you getting back on this thread and providing the screenshots of the error you encountered, Mary53. Let me chime in to add some information regarding this one.
Based on the screenshot you provided, we can check your antivirus software. Some antivirus programs can block QuickBooks from loading essential files. If any of the programs listed below are found in your quarantine, ensure they are granted permission to pass through your firewall:

On the other hand, if you have multiple versions of QuickBooks Desktop installed on your computer, we recommend uninstalling any versions that you no longer use.
You can visit this article for more detailed information on the above: Fix Error Code 80029c4a and 80029x4a for QuickBooks Desktop.
If everything appears to be fine with the antivirus and after uninstalling any unused versions, yet you still encounter the error. I recommend reaching out to our support team during their available hours. They have the tools to securely check your account and offer real-time solutions.
Don't hesitate to reach out to us again if you need anything else.
Hello, @mary53. Thanks for following up on the thread! You've done a great job so far, let me clarify this for you.
Folders labeled as QuickBooks 2019.old, QuickBooks 2018.old, etc., are usually older or backup versions of QuickBooks program files or data. These are created during updates or upgrades to newer versions of QuickBooks Desktop, designed to preserve older program files or configurations. This ensures you can revert to the previous version if needed.
If you're confident that the newer version of QuickBooks is installed correctly, working without issues, and you don’t need the older files or backups, you can safely delete these .old folders to free up disk space.
Before deleting, make sure to back up your current company files and any critical data. Once you've confirmed everything is functioning perfectly, you can proceed with cleanup.
Feel free to reply this thread if you have clarification or additional concerns. The Community is always here to help.

I did try again and got the canada camp site. They were very helpful and gave detailed instructions on what to do. I did get my lic. number and product code and also a verification code.
If the uninstall and reinstall does not work they think that it may be because I am running windows 10.
unfortunetly i can not back up as i can not get into quick books
Hello there, @mary53.
Yes, it is safe to delete older files after you've successfully reinstalled your company file.
However, ensure you retain the .qbw file type, as it contains important company information.
Before deleting, I suggest creating a recent backup copy to preserve your accounting data.
Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions. We're here to help.
