When I get the year-end adjustments from the accountant, there are accounts that will not let me make an entry in. This year its the 1200 Accounts Receivable account. In previous years, a xx01 account was created to process the journal entry.
The requested JE is
1200 AR CR $509.95
1201 AR created for YE entries a couple years ago CR 2524.12
1250 Loan Receivable DR 911.77
1251 loan receivable for YE entries created couple years ago DR 2122.30
Now interestingly enough, I can make an entry now into 1250 which obviously was not possible at some point since there is a 1251 account.
I have searched and cannot find a mention of this issue (could be I just don't know how to word it correctly)
How to I either a) be able to have #1200 show up for journal entries or b) deal with the entry if I can't access the correct account?
Think it has been compounding over the years. I would really appreciate some insight!
I have another entry with the same issue for the Accounts Payable account
2150 - it doesn't show up as a choice to do a JE
Hello L4,
Making sure your transactions are entered the right way helps prevent discrepancies in your books. Among many other powerful features, QuickBooks offers the Journal Entry feature which allows you to seamlessly make necessary entries that'll immediately reflect in your books. I'd be glad to steer you in the right direction so you can get back to doing what you love.

I ended up working around it by unlinking those accounts in settings, making the entry, then relinking the accounts. Hoping that doesn't mess something else up lol
I'm glad you found a workaround L4. You can always invite your accountant to work on your books with you as well, so that they can take a look and see how best to record the journal entry. Use the My Accountant tab, enter your accountant's email address, and hit Invite. Once they accept the invitation they'll be able to sign into your QuickBooks Online account so they can give you a hand with those adjusting entries.
