How to fix batch of old transactions from 2020 were dropped into a new bank account Chart of Accounts?

When I linked a new USD bank account (created June 2021), a batch of old transactions from 2020 from CAD Chequing Account were dropped into the new USD Account transactions. I tried reassigning in Chart of Accounts, but receive an error. "This transaction is matched to a downloaded transaction. If you want to change the account, you need to unmatch the transaction first." How can I fix this?

Hi there,

It's important that your transactions are well entered so that your books are well balanced. QuickBooks Online has the ability to import transactions from your bank to save you time with entering data. I can provide some assistance with editing these transactions.

If a transaction is matched to the banking screen, the bank account affected can't be modified as the transactions would no longer affect the account it's matched to. In order to modify this transaction, you'd need to undo the match, then modify the transaction from the expenses or sales tab. In order to undo a match of a transaction, navigate to the Banking tab, and select the Categorized section to view all the transactions you have matched. Find the transaction in question from within the list, and click on the option to undo the match. Once this match is undone, you will be able to go locate that transaction in the sales or expenses tab to send it to the correct bank account.
