How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total, after the subtotal. Currently the HST shows up in the body of my invoice, as well as on the Sales Tax Total line.

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

Additional Customization > Footers.
You must select either Sales Tax Summary or Condensed Sales Tax Summary in the "Print" column.  However you can prevent these fields from actually printing if you wish - in the Layout Designer, reduce the size of the field, drag it to an unused spot in your form, and change the colour of text and borders to white.

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

I have the same problem but the above solution isn't helping.  I have always had the 'tax total' show up on the bottom of the invoice for the customer, so I want to leave that there, but suddenly the 'HST (ON) on sales' started showing up in the body of the invoice with the amount of HST showing under 'amount', making the invoice look a little confusing.  I just need to get that 'HST (ON) on sales' taken off but can't seem to do so.  Can you give clearer directions than the one above?  Thank you.

Can you find the screen for Additional Customization - Footers?
Select either Sales Tax Summary or Condensed Sales Tax Summary in the Print column.

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

This does not solve the issue.  The GST line is showing up in the body of the invoice as an additional line item.  There does not seem to be any way in the Additional Customization to remove this.   Is there somewhere else in QuickBooks that I need to toggle or untoggle something?

Hi there Blackrete,

It sounds like you're seeing an extra block for the GST when you view the invoice after inputting the data. It's important that you can customize and format your invoices to your liking so that they fit with your business' aesthetic. Let me explain how you can switch this off.

While working on the invoice, please follow these steps:

  1. Choose Customize Data Layout at the top.
  2. Navigate to the Footer tab of the new Additional Customization window.
  3. Find the Sales Tax Total option, and remove the checkmark from the Print column. If you don't want to see a Sales Tax Summary at all, even at the very bottom, you can remove the checkmark for that option as well.
  4. Hit OK to approve repositioning by the Layout Designer.
  5. Hit OK to save your changes.

Now the GST won't display as an additional line item on your invoices when printed. I'm confident that these steps will have things sorted out in no time, but if not you can always Contact Us for additional help from our support team in real-time. I'll also be here in case you have further questions. Have a great night!

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

This is not the answer we are looking for.  We want the sales tax to appear in the footer.  We DON'T want the sales tax to appear in the body of the invoice with the other items.

Hello northerngirl. Glad to hear from you again. I can see the benefit of having the sales tax appear in the footer of your invoice. Since this customization option isn't available, I encourage you to send feedback about this to our engineers. You can do this by clicking the Help menu and looking for Send Feedback Online. In the meantime, feel free to as other questions, I'm here to help you achieve your QuickBooks goals.

They are asking for a very simple question. In the body, it has these words that just do not make any sense of being there. How do you remove it? See the attached...

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

The answers given to this question so far are not great.  I haven't found a solution either, but what I have found that helps is to add  subtotal item after all of the billable lines so that you at least get a total before tax.  Hope that helps a bit.

How do I remove the HST in the body of my invoice and only show it as the sales tax total?

What worked for me: In Additional Customization, uncheck both Sales Tax Total and Sales Tax Summary, and check Condensed Sales Tax Summary.  Modify your invoice in Layout Designer, and use this new Data Field in the in place of the default.

I, too, would get the words "sales tax" tp show up on my printed pages.  Go to: additional customizaton, footer, check sales tax, go to layout designer.  Now you can see what is printing in the body.  Go to fonts and change the color to white, now you will not see it when you print.....this worked for me.
