Hi kmcnamara,
QuickBooks Online is designed to save you time, and easily allow you to edit, delete, or recreate transactions as you see fit. It's essential that when an invoice is deleted, you can review the deleting information in order to re-create the transaction if necessary. I'd be happy to explain how to locate your deleted invoice, and how to create it from scratch in QBO.
While deleted transactions can't be "recovered" per say, you can review the invoice information in the Audit log, and use these details to re-create the invoice in your QuickBooks account. To find the deleted invoice in the Audit log, follow these steps:
1. Click the Gear icon.
2. Select Audit Log.
3. You can scroll through the list, or click Filter to narrow down your results. A deleted invoice will be labelled, "Deleted Invoice No. XYZ" in the Event column.
4. Click View.
5. Select the small triangle drop-down menu to display the invoice details.
Next, you can re-create your invoice using those details by clicking + New > Invoice.
I hope this helps get you back on track.
Cheers.
There is no Audit Log under the gear icon :-(

Hi there FM,
The audit log is one of the great features at your disposal in QuickBooks Online. It allows you to keep track of the changes made to your books, when they were made, and by whom. I want to point out exactly where the audit log can be found, as well as some tips you can try if you're still unable to access it.
When viewing the homepage or Dashboard of QuickBooks Online, you'll want to select the large Gear icon in the upper right corner. Under the Tools list, Audit log is second from the bottom. If you're not seeing it here, it might be because of your user access. Only Company or Master Admin users have access to view the audit log, so if you're a Standard User this explains why you don't see it. You can ask your Master Admin to grant you access if you think that this is the case.
It's also possible that the images and files stored in your browser's cache & cookies are causing glitches in the program. This happens on occasion and is simple to fix. Please follow the browser troubleshooting steps below to:
Clear the app cache if you're using the QuickBooks Online app for Windows or Mac
Try a browser if you're using the app
Try a private browser window
Try another browser type
Make sure you're using a supported browser and system
Reset your Internet or try on another computer or device
The most likely cause here is your user access, but once you've been granted Admin access, or had an Admin user access the audit log, you'll be able to view the details of the deleted invoice so that you can re-create it.
I hope you enjoy your evening. Feel free to drop me a line if there's anything else I can assist with.
