QBSE and QBO Easy Start don't support multi currency transactions. You may consider switching to QBO Essentials or Plus to have the multi currency feature.

If you want to keep using QBSE, you may have 2 ways to accept USD payments
1. Utilize this app to invoice your client in USD and you will get paid in CAD.
2. Open a business account at Wise and create a USD account. You will get paid in USD and may convert to your CAD account anytime you need or withdraw the balance to your local bank. You can also utilize the bank feeds to download your CAD statements into your QBSE account later.
Hi mikegamblemedia-,
I want to extend a welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'm certain it'll become a go-to for you when you have questions. Fiat Lux is correct. You'd need to change your subscription type to avail of the multicurrency feature as it is not an option in QuickBooks Self-Employed. If this interests you, I suggest reviewing the article that explains this process of making the Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online as the Self-Employed and Online programs are different platforms. The Plans & Pricing tab contains more information on the features and cost of each subscription type.
Keep in mind that when you get set up with QuickBooks Online and turn on the Multicurrency feature, you won't be able to turn it off. The feature doesn't allow line items in USD and CAD on the same invoice. Invoices display in the customer's saved currency. Check out this article About Multicurrency to learn more about how the feature works and see if it's the right fit for your company.
You can always reach back out if you need further support. Have a fantastic day!
