Accountant Product Updates – November

3 min read

With the countdown to Christmas well underway, it’s a hectic time of year for everyone. Here at QuickBooks it’s no exception. November’s been a busy month thanks to a flurry of new features – Projects is up and running and there’s a customisable Client list on QuickBooks Online Accountant. IRIS software now integrates with QuickBooks and if you want to cut down on data entry (who doesn’t) check out AutoEntry: our app of the month. We’d love to tell you more about everything new in QuickBooks. Join our webinar on 7th December to get the low down.

Projects – the easy way for your clients to grow their business

Every small business owner knows that some jobs make more money than others. Now QuickBooks Online Plus customers can get a crystal-clear view of their business with the new Projects feature.

Projects lets your clients track income and expenses and calculate their profit job by job. They can organise all the information from time to transactions in one place, then run quick reports to see in seconds which work is most profitable for their business.

How your clients get started with Projects:

  1. Login to QuickBooks Online and click on the Gear icon.
  2. Click the Gear icon then select Accounts and Settings
  3. Select the Advanced tab and look for Turn this on and press Save. Projects will now appear on your sidebar. Please note – once Projects is on, there is no option to turn it off
  4. Under Projects select Add your first project. Name it and allocate it to a customer.

Now they’re ready to add notes, invoices, expenses, payments and time to the project before running a report on project profitability. They can also categorise receipts or create and send invoices in Projects. They will save time managing each job and get insights that will help make better business decisions.

Iris now integrates with QuickBooks

Save time, reduce data entry and make it easier to grow your practice by importing your QuickBooks Online data directly into IRIS. New IRIS Connector lets you seamlessly sync your trial balances for those year-end accounts. As long as you have the 17.3 version of IRIS, you can import data from QuickBooks Online right away – IRIS has made a quick video which shows you how to get started.

We’re sure you’ll agree that this new partnership between IRIS and QuickBooks is great news for accountants. With Making Tax Digital on the horizon it’s more important than ever to increase the efficiency of your client services. And less manual data entry means quarterly filing to HMRC will be as easy and accurate as it can be.

Right now, only annual trial balances can be imported, but management period movements will be added in the near future. Watch this space…

New client list puts info at your fignertips

See all the information you need about your clients in a format that suits you. QuickBooks Online has a new, redesigned client list that gives accountants easy access to all of the key details in a tailored format.

The new client list lets you organise your clients in a way that suits your firm. It’s also a more efficient way of reviewing your practice’s work, allowing you to look at groups as well as individual clients. It’s currently available to new subscribers to QuickBooks online and existing customers with fewer than 100 clients. The new client list is mobile ready, so it’s perfect for contacting customers or adding notes to their records when you’re working on the go.

Log in now to try the new client list now in QuickBooks Online Accountant and see how much time it could save your firm.

App of the month: Auto Entry

Snap your invoices, receipts and bank statements on your phone, then see the data appear in QuickBooks. Details including unit price and quantity are captured, so there’s no need for manual entry.
