Introduction to QuickBooks Online for Accountants

Start with this course if you are new to QuickBooks Online. Get a quick overview of QuickBooks Online, learn how to perform basic tasks, work with client files, and learn about Intuit products.


MODULE 1: Getting started in QuickBooks Online Accountant


The module begins with an introduction to Intuit as a brand and their product portfolio. The module then shows how to sign up for a QuickBooks Online Accountant account and then log in. The module closes with a high level description of what QuickBooks Online Accountant does and an overview of some of the key features in the Accountant dashboard and the top navigation toolbar.

MODULE 2: Your client's QuickBooks Online


This module introduces workflows and explains how to navigate your clients' QuickBooks Online. It will also take a look at the Dashboard layout and the Mobile App.

MODULE 3: Sales and customers


This module introduces the Sales Workflow and Sales Center. We will take a look at adding customers, creating sales receipts and online invoices, and how to enter received payments.

  • When to use a sales receipt
  • Creating a basic sales receipt

MODULE 4: Expenses and Vendors


This module introduces the Expense and Vendor Workflows and the Expenses Center. We will take a look at adding vendors, entering expenses and how to enter and pay bills.

  • Recognize how to access and navigate the Expenses Center
  • Adding a vendor to the Vendor list 
  • Why you would use check versus expenses
  • How to enter a basic ahs expense
  • How to enter a basic check expense

  • Recognize how to pay bills and assess expense activity
  • Consolidate your understanding of the expenses and Vendors module


MODULE 5: Banking


In this module we'll take a look at how to use bank feeds and best practice bank feed work flows.

  • Recognize the principles and benefits of QuickBooks Online bank feeds
  • Recognize the principles of the best practice workflows for bank feed transactions
  • Consolidate your understanding of the Banking module


MODULE 6: Building blocks for reporting 


In this module we'll look at the Chart of Accounts and Products and Services, which are the building blocks for creating basic reports.

  • Recognize the principles and importance of the Chart for Accounts and Products and Services list
  • Recognize the principles of reporting in QuickBooks Online and how to run basic reports
  • Consolidate your understanding of the Building blocks for reporting module


MODULE 7: Bringing clients into QuickBooks Online Accountant


The module begins with an overview of the subscription levels. The module then explains the different ways to add a client to QuickBooks Online Accountant. Finally, the module closes by outlining the other core features of QuickBooks Online Accountant that you can learn about in the QuickBooks Online Certification course.



Lesson Objectives:


  • Identify the different levels of subscription available for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed
  • Recognize the principles of adding clients' QuickBooks Online companies to your firms' QuickBooks Online Accountant account
  • Describe how to increase efficiency in QuickBooks Online Accountant 
  • Identify other core capabilities of QuickBooks Online Accountant that can be learned in Core Certification
  • Consolidate your understanding of the Bringing clients into QuickBooks Online Accountant module
