Thanks for reaching out to us here. When you have a 'single user' license with QuickBooks Desktop, your license entitles you to install the software on up to two computers. This would be the primary computer and additional computer, such as your laptop. Running QuickBooks in single-user mode, enables any number of users to work on the file. However, you can only work one at a time, and although you can manually enter transactions for both computers, most recent data won't sync automatically.
In your situation, I suggest multi-user-mode. This provides access to the same company file at the same time from different computers. One computer will act as the host or server computer, additional computers are called work stations. This allows you to maintain the same user logins that are already set up, as long as the users accessing the work stations have admin access to the additional computers.
