Banking sync not working with Scotiabank after 2 factor authentication added

Since 2 factor authentication was introduced with Scotiabank I am unable to update my banking transactions without having my phone on me, I have a bookkeeper so they can't update the transactions themselves anymore. Does anyone know of a fix for this besides going in there and updating the transactions myself periodically? Or when there will be a fix for this? Its been going on for months now.

Since the security process is from Scotiabank, I recommend contacting their customer support for further assistance. They can provide other options on how to authenticate your account. I am also finding it difficult bringing in banking transactions for my scotiabank clients since the 2FA requirement. I constantly have to phone the client to open up the app to authorize me. I am not sure how this can be sustainable because I cannot be interrupting clients during their work day constantly so that I can do my work for them. I am hoping the bank or intuit can come up with a solution.

I also am having issues and the banks response is that this is how it is, it's completely unacceptable, it makes the program almost useless now as my bookkeeper can't do his job without me there, which defeats the purpose of having this feature. We pay good money for this program and if I recall I've had issues before with Scotia online and QuickBooks syncing, the problem took three months to fix and no one got any compensation.please look into this issue further, it is not the banks issue it is your software

Utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.

We are also having the same issue with the Scotiabank 2sv. The client is a roofer and cannot respond while working throughout the day. I appreciate the need for security but I used to have instant access to the accounts for updating purposes. QuickBooks should be looking for a solution to this aggravating situation.

Hi there,

 

It's vital for all transactions to be entered in your books so your account balances can reflect reality. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of your transactions by being able to import them directly from the site of multiple banks. I can provide some information about connection issues.

 

One step to take when there is an error importing transactions from your bank's site would be to enter the sign-in information for your bank once more. This can be accomplished by navigating to the banking tab, then clicking on the Pencil Icon located to the right of the affected account. Select Edit Sign-in info and enter that information in to have the system try another update.

 

I that error persists, or no transactions are still not being imported, I recommend reaching out to our support team. They'll be able to verify your account information in a secure setting to provide more troubleshooting steps. If the error still isn't resolved, the support team will be able to notify our engineers as well as look if this issue is currently being worked on by them so you can be notified by email once the issue is resolved. I reached out to your support team on May 10/22 and I keep getting emails that your engineers are working on the problem but still do not have a solution.  I am unable to work on any of my clients that use ScotiaConnect and have to constantly call the client, interrupting their busy work day, and now I am 20 days behind in updating any banking info.  Can you please give us a definitive answer as to when this issue is going to be resolved

Thanks for joining us here.  Our Development team continues to work diligently with Scotiabank, although we currently don't have an ETA for resolution.  As mentioned above, you'll receive an email when this has been fixed.  In the interim you can manually upload  the transactions so your accounts remain accurate and up to date.

Hope you can resolve this soon. FYI - I recently set up a client on Xero (QBO's competitor) and connected their scotiabank account. After the initial security set up with the client present to authenticate, I was able to refresh transactions in the client's absence thereafter, so there must be a way to get this working.

This is an enormous issue and effectively prevents us Scotiabank users from using Quickbooks. This needs to be fixed immediately!

Manual upload of transactions is not a fix. We bookkeepers don't have access to our clients' online banking. The entire point of QBO connecting to the bank is so that we don't need to have the login, but can still get transactions.

The solution to manually import the transactions from a file provided by the bank is a solution in the meantime that our engineers work with the bank to re-establish the connection so that you can still have those transactions entered in your books without having to manually enter them one by one. In order to be added to the list of affected accounts to be notified when the connection issue will be resolved, I recommend reaching out to the support team using the methods provided earlier to be attached to the list of affected accounts so that you can receive an email once the connection will be back to normal.

I tried to be added to this list to be notified when Quickbooks can finally accommodate Scotiabank 2FA, however the support person told me I cannot be added as I do not have an error code to give.

Problem with your "solution" is that as bookkeepers we do not have access to the clients online bank credentials.  So when we need to update any of the transactions, we need to have the client approve that it is QBO (third party program) attempting to access the account.  They have to do this for each and every bank and credit card linked in QBO.  This is EXTREMELY frustrating for the client as we constantly interrupt their busy work day looking for banking credentials to be updated and approved by them.  There has to be a better "solution" than this.  Can you tell me why this isn't a problem with any of the other chartered banks and credit unions just Scotiabank and Scotiaconnect.  When asked to contact the bank by your help line, I did so and Scotiabank told myself and the client that this is not a Scotiabank issue but a QBO third party access issue.

Can you give a timeframe as to when this issue might possibly be corrected.  If not, can you please advise when you are going to start giving refunds for the fees that we pay each month for the QBO service?

You can utilize a 3rd party connector as I mentioned earlier for the time being.

I have also been having Scotiabank sync problems since 2FA was introduced.  unable to use app to view transactions and update.  So far I have had to use  a PC to update scotiaonline transactions in quickbooks online, with my phone handy to authenticate the update into the PC.  Can't have my bookkeeper do update as as my scotiabank app has to use face id to authenticate that it is me asking for the update.  

I miss being able to do updates on phone app......

I'm sorry, but that statement really rings untrue. If this was a priority it would have been fixed by now. As it stands you've left many customers in the lurch and the suggestion that transactions be manually uploaded is insulting for a service we all pay for but is clearly broken.

There is a Xerox road show on the road later this month.  Much as I hate to suggest this, it might be our solution.  I hate thinking of this as a solution after switching almost all my customers to QBO but we cannot continue indefinitly like this!!!

This has been going on with Scotiabank Scotiaconnect since last November (2021).  I am getting quite tired of the "our engineers are aware of the issue and working on a solution" garbage.  I would like to know a definite date for repair.  I, like others are no longer suggesting QBO to clients that use Scotibank.  This fix has taken way way too long.

This is not a quickbooks issue; the bank instituted new security which quickbooks cannot bypass.
