ROE

Hi, mary53.

Let me guide you on how to create and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).  It’s a straightforward process that can be done directly from the Employees menu.

Before generating the ROE, make sure you've entered both a Hired and a Released date in your employee's record.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and select Employee Centre
  2. Double-click on the employee for whom you want to enter the Hired and Released dates.
  3. Make the necessary changes on the Employment info tab, then click OK.

Once done, you can now generate the ROE for your employees. Please follow these steps:

  1. From the Employee menu, select Payroll Forms.
  2. Then, click Process Record of Employment.
  3. Check the employee you want to create an ROE for, then click OK.

After that, you can then E-file your ROE forms on the Service Canada website. Here's how:

  1. From the Process ROEs screen, click EFILE.
  2. Make a note of the file path for the ROE.BLK file provided in the ROE electronic Filing message.
  3. Select OK.
  4. After that, the Service Canada website opens. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in to your ROE Web account and upload the file to complete your electronic submission.

For more detailed information about the entire process, you can also refer to this article:  Process, review, and EFILE Record of Employment (ROE) forms in QuickBooks Desktop.

Hi mary53, thanks for reaching back out. I’m happy to hear that my colleague was able to assist you with your Record of Employment (ROE) preparation.

It sounds like you’ve completed the ROE filing on the Service Canada website. To ensure the submission went through successfully, let’s confirm the submission status together.

Here’s how you can check:

1. Log in to ROE Web using your GCKey or Sign-In Partner (such as your bank)

2. Navigate to the Record of Employment menu, and search or view ROEs.

3. You can search for the employee by their Social Insurance Number (SIN) or by the date range during which you submitted the ROE.

4. Once you locate the record, review the status.

If it shows as Issued, this means the ROE has been successfully processed and is now accessible to Service Canada. Your employee will also be able to view it in their My Service Canada Account within the next 24 hours.

Feel free to reach out in this thread if you have more questions or need further assistance.

Hello, I've done what you have suggested and it does not show anything as being issued

I've gone by the ROE number and also the employee's SIN  and it comes up as 0

Hi, Mary53. I appreciate your effort in following the steps suggested by my colleagues above for generating the Records of Employment (ROEs).

Regarding the E-file process, QuickBooks Desktop should typically allow the electronic submission directly from the software. However, if you're unable to complete the E-file option, manually entering the figures on the Service Canada Website is a suitable workaround.

However, here are a few potential reasons why the E-file functionality might not work as expected:

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection during the submission process.
  • Double-check that your QuickBooks Desktop software is up-to-date to the latest release. Go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop and install any available updates.
  • Ensure there are proper administrative permissions for QuickBooks files on your system.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop live support team to determine why the function is not working as expected despite following the correct steps.

We are still here to assist with your QuickBooks Desktop-related concerns, Mary53.

When I try to Efile from quick books, it is bringing me to sign in with my bank.  I do that and I am getting an error message from the bank   copy attached

On this past friday i did put the figures in manually on the service canada website, and printed the form,

however when i go to the site it is not showing up

I appreciate you sharing the additional information, Mary53. I'll direct you to our dedicated support channel to help resolve this issue promptly.

It seems the E-file functionality is redirecting you to log in through your bank, which is not typical behavior and may indicate a connectivity or integration issue between QuickBooks and the Service Canada portal.

Since this involves both technical issues in QuickBooks and concerns about your manual submission, I recommend contacting our live support team. They have the tools and expertise to resolve the E-file issue and will guide you on the next steps to ensure that your ROE submission is successfully processed.

Here’s how you can reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Click on Contact Us.
  3. Provide a brief description of your issue, then hit Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account, choose Continue, and tap Continue with my account.
  5. You'll receive a single-use code via email. Enter the code and click Continue.
  6. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.
