I can't back up the company file. I now receive the warning message "Unable to back up company file"
I've checked data integrity and no errors were found. What is causing this problem?
Try create a dummy file or open the sample one, then run the backup process.
If it runs normally, your primary company file is corrupted. Have you run Tool Hub or QB Doctor?
It the same error persists, try reinstall your QB.
Hi Jan13,
I know how important it is to be able to back up your company file so you can save your data for future reference. QuickBooks Desktop gives you the flexibility to back up your file manually or automatically. I'll be happy to guide you through this.
A good starting point would be to ensure there's no company file issue causing this warning message. Like @Fiat, I'd also recommend running the tool hub to resolve any potential bugs in your file. Here's how: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub
To make sure you're following the correct steps for your back up, and for more details in this procedure, check out this useful article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file
I hope this helps you get back on track! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.
Thanks - I was able to backup the sample QB file. I've installed and run QB Tool Hub - but they don't specify a fix for my problem. But I ran a fix on my file anyway but still can't create a backup.
Thanks but I'm afraid nothing I've tried has fixed my file so that I can create a backup.
Thanks for following up, jan13. It's important to me that you can create a backup, and I think the best way to get to the bottom of this is with some real-time assistance. Our agents are great resources in situations like these as they can use screen share sessions and other tools to gather important information needed to resolve your issue.
