Don't waste your time giving feedback via QBO. I've been giving feedback for a few years and absolutely no one has responded and certainly no changes have occurred.
Have you gotten work orders into QBO yet? We cannot operate without a printed work order and your "work around" is not a real WORK AROUND.
We were going to upgrade our license too, but if this does not work, it is useless to us .
What kind of business do you run? A manufacturing company, a field service, or else? Consider having an additional app instead.
Thanks, unfortunately this is not a reasonable solution for me. I do not want to re type a whole work order up. Some of these take up to an hour to do. It is not practical or efficient for me. They need to add a work order feature. Until then I am going to have to keep using my Joist app. Thanks again, Eddie
Nearly 5 years of feedback and customer requests have gone ignored by Intuit. It is quite obvious that Intuit does not care about serving the needs of its customers. Perhaps it is time to seek another bookkeeping and business solution provider.
Also do not know why it is under the "solved" category. 🤷♂️
Agreed. I guess the QBO team is too busy congratulating themselves to realize they actually have a problem. Some of us customers are actively checking into solutions offered by their competitors. All the best to you!
We have not found the WO feature in any accounting app in the same class as QBO. You will still have to use their add-ons or integrate with third-party apps. One field service app offers a starter plan for free to manage up to 50 appointments a month. You will need a connector to integrate data with QBO.
Yup, 5 years for a work order, solution from Intuit is check out 3rd party options, lol.
Ok intuit, you are far from being an ERP system, I don't think intuit is in tyke league here.
I'm not really committed to this platform after, I have tried, but intuit failed, as in the past.
Yet this is solved. Keep posting folks, squeaky wheel may get the grease or fall off and get lost all together.
Best part about this, I am the IT GUY, for lots business who use this lackluster product.
SMH, change is in the air
I feel like " we can not find any other company to offer it " is not the correct answer or solution. It is unfortunate for me and my accountant. I have to pay another company/App to get this feature. They should add it and if needed charge for it. This would really help the little guys (like me) . I am already up to my neck in office work and this just seems like such an easy fix. Sincerely, Sofusteratedguy!!!
We have QBO and we also use plenty of work orders. I have been playing with making another template labeled work order from the estimate. When I do a work order I go to the customize at the bottom of the estimate and choose work order and print. But dont save it, just get out of it so the estimate is intact. Problem is you have to have admin abilities to get the customize button. We have been using Method which talks to QBO and it does do work orders. I just want to quit paying for it, when the sales team can do everything in QBO except work orders.
What kind of business do you run? A field service company?
Can you also suggest that you ask engineering to add an option to the desktop version allowing the notes section to be an added data field on the sales orders. We keep our customer's current equipment info in the notes. It would be nice to have that field added to our work orders so our tech's know what parts to bring.
Thanks for posting your insights and feedback about the sales order template in QuickBooks, @CNYgds.
Please know that we would love to hear your requests or suggestions for QuickBooks Desktop Workforce Management. However, we can't provide the turnaround time if they will release additional preferences and enhancements. They work on product updates internally.
To add your product suggestions to our developers about our invoice template preferences, go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
For now, here is the guide for you to change the layout or columns for the sales forms in QuickBooks Desktop: Use and customize form templates.

Delayed Charge is worthless if I can't PRINT IT
It's great to see you here in the community, Mindy.
We understand the need to print delayed charges in QBO. While you can't print the actual transaction, there is an option to print its detail through the Audit History. Here's how:
You can also use the keyboard print shortcut (CTRL + P) to print the transaction.
I want you to know that we wanted to learn about your business needs. Changes in the program are released based on several factors, so we welcome product suggestions to help improve our products and services. We're unable to provide the turnaround time on when new features are released in QuickBooks, since they are handled by the Developers Team.

There is no option for "more" at the bottom of the delayed charge. Furthermore, the audit trail shows the amount. So your answer would not get any dumber in two different ways., Congrats on that.
Hi ndamo,
Thanks for joining us here. In addition to the information provided above, a Delayed Charge is a non-posting transaction. To print a copy, you'll need to right click on it > Save as > choose your preferred folder on your system and you can print the form from there. With regards to the 'More' option, this will be available on Saved items. To review the History of Delayed Charges, go to +New > click on the arrow in the top left corner > scroll down and open View More. This will bring up the list of all Delayed Charges and you can open the specific item by selecting it. You should see More at the bottom of the screen.
Should you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us. It would be our pleasure to work with you directly and ensure you're able to complete your QuickBooks goals as soon as possible.

I'm using desktop right now, just kind of looking at the online version... so I'm not 100% sure but it looks like the best way to make a work order is to convert the estimate into an invoice, and then click print/preview, and then Print Packing Slip. It looks nice. In QBD there is a way to make the invoice non-posting, so not sure if that is an option in QBO...
Hi there ndamo,
It's vital that all your transactions be entered properly in your books so the account balances can be accurate. QuickBooks Online is a great tool ab;e to help you have access to your books from any location with an internet connection. I can provide some information about invoices.
In Quickbooks online, there isn't a way to create a non-posting invoice in QuickBooks Online. That being said, all invoices created will affect the books unless they are deleted or voided.
if you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
You can keep using QB Desktop and setup a simple private cloud solution.
Yes, I was just checking out the online version, to see if they had fixed any of the issues, but apparently not...
I create a PO as a work order from the estimate. if the invoice is already created, I go back to the estimate and reopen it and generate a PO from the estimate. Then I send that to the vendor along with any supporting documentation necessary to execute the job.
I agree I’ve been requesting a drop down to have work orders for our field techs that can be done and sent to the PM and also have a limited user where they don’t have access to Customer A/R just be able to do work orders and estimate on job sites
the office can deal with the invoice part why can’t there be Field techs option without all the glitz and stuff
Hi!
QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn’t have a built-in feature for work orders, but there are workarounds. One way is to use estimates or invoices in QBO to act as work orders. Create an estimate with the details of the job, then convert it to an invoice when it's complete. This way, you can track the progress and costs.
If you need a mobile-friendly way to handle work orders, inventory tracking, and barcode scanning, I recommend Cleverence Warehouse 15. It works as middleware for QuickBooks, enabling barcode scanning, stock tracking, and order updates directly from mobile devices. This is especially helpful if you need to manage multiple work orders or track items across locations.
