I am from Canada. Same problem. It is year end time. Don’t need this problem. Maybe go back a couple of versions when it worked fine and start over and do it right
Indeed, I feel like they are not acknowledging the issues. Your situation mirrors mine. :(
I thought that was a problem with my computer, but I'm using a good Mac that is up to date, and have no problem aside from QB online. Since the last update with QB in December, using the new version is making my life miserable because it HAS BECOME SO SLOW !!!
I have been increasingly paying more money every year to use QB but I paid it anyway because I had no choice. But it is suddenly not worth the money. I am loosing too much time using it.
We need help. It cannot be like this forever. What is the problem and how to solve it?
Thank you for communicating your issue, @RvNYC.
I understand that it's important that you have a tool that works efficiently for you and your business, and QuickBooks aims to provide that. I'm here to help.
Sometimes, accumulated browser data can slow down performance. Let's try accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account through your browser's incognito mode:
After successfully running the report with correct data through incognito mode, please proceed to clear your browser's cache. Doing so will remove and fix any problems and optimize the program's performance.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it could be something more specific to your QBO account or a larger technical issue stemming from the last update. I recommend contacting our Support team to help you in this regard.
Please feel free to visit this website to find resources related to any QBO-related concerns you may have: Self-help articles.

Unfortunately, these stock standard trouble shooting options are of no use at all. I recommend calling and complaining and refusing to do what they are offering as a solution and make them look for a solution. How QB's can still keep people running around in circles using these useless trouble shooting methods is beyond me. So many people have the same problem across all browsers and they are not doing anything more about it. QB's, get your act together!
Hi Guys
A customer of mine was experiencing issues with Quickbooks and as he said the rest of the system seemed fine I thought I knew what the answer might be.
If your using Chrome click on the 3 dots in the top right hand corner click on settings. Then click on system and untick use hardware acceleration. It worked like a charm with his machine so it might help you guys as well. This will be the same for Edge and Firefox etc just find the hardware acceleration setting.
Hope it helps some of you.
Cheers
Effigee
I love how their reply follows this structure: 1. Show understanding that seamless experiences are beneficial to running a business (duh). 2. What type of experience they try to provide (uh thanks, doesn't answer the question). 3. Gaslight you into thinking its your operating system's fault and then provide a lengthly walkthrough on how to make it "better." 4. Take no responsibility for faulty or buggy software. 5. Deferring you to contact customer support. Thanks Quickbooks, You R(S)o(u)ck!
I am seriously in a dilemma after helping someone set up using mock environment and migrating real data. The system is very slow and the customers, transactions, and other data are not that many.
Now, I'm wondering whether to continue advising and recommending and customizing and training on QB and continue with it and become parallel after completing year-end and bring things up to speed and go live or, abandon it completely. Thank God it's still mock environment with real data.
I sometimes don't know whether or not the system is registering the keystroke or mouse click. Sometimes I'm inclined to key in or click again.
Many a times I have had to key or click twice and that coincides with the system's delayed response. At other times I just have to wait after the first time and let the system finish the spinning circle.
Also, other issues include data displayed is incorrect or not updated. When that happens or if the system doesn't respond, I begin to fear the worst thing.
These performance issues does not bode well for the future for those of us with quickbooks.
What are the alternatives?
@Effigee Just a quick one: After turning off the hardware acceleration button in chrome, there is a "Relaunch" button. Do we press that or should we not touch that?
Just click re-launch it will just restart Chrome with the new applied setting. Quickbooks will hopefully work better for you after.
Apparently they load an insane amount of company data into your browser and expect your browser to do the bulk of the processing. This can be demonstrated by viewing how much RAM each tab of theirs eats up.
I recently upgraded my system to 64GB RAM which helped for a few days - but apparently browsers aren't built to do so much heavy lifting.
Intuit does this to save money on their end.
They don't use ajax (asynchronous background server requests) as that would be server intensive so instead your browser needs to compute any particular transaction in the context of all previous transactions, that's why newer accounts with less transactions run faster.
Their system design is flawed on a very high level. I made a terrible mistake using the online version.
It feels like they rushed to create an online version without investing the time & money to design the system correctly. What's frustrating is the fact that you only realize the issue once you are fully integrated in their system with hundreds of transactions.
Approx. 3 days ago Whilst raising an invoice. the VAT box stopped working.

I am posting here instead of starting a new thread. Is anyone else finding QBO chronically slow today? Both login and loading pages are timing out or taking 5-10 minutes to load. I notice quite a few other searches on downdetector but nothing on the QB status page. I have been able to get in with good speed by using VPN into New York. My ISP is Zen FWIW and the connection to everywhere else is good today.
SO SLOW!! can't do anything. changed browsers, cleared cache etc etc etc
I.m also having the same problem I've been trying since 7:30am so frustrating

It appears to be back to normal for me.
All working fine now, thank you.
Done ALL that but is seemingly getting slower and slower every day, each simple transaction (just entering) takes many seconds... My PC is up to date, I have not changed my browser since I started using QuickBooks (2019), ALL my other online programs are fast.
QuickBooks seem to be cutting back, is this just more of the same, lowering speeds to save $$
The new CORE Payroll is also a mess, it has lost all my timesheet data...More cutbacks.
