Are you a Canadian employer in search of an app to track employee hours? If so, many apps can help you track employee hours and pay your workers accordingly. One of these apps, QuickBooks Online, can sync with many other time-tracking apps for easy integration with your current systems. Luckily, QuickBooks makes it simple to set up employee time sheets and track their hours. The Benefits of Employee Time Tracking

Accurate and reliable employee data helps your organization operate more efficiently. As such, time-tracking apps make it convenient for you to create a record of employee hours. But what are the benefits of tracking employee hours? Employee time tracking helps you reduce errors when you create labour reports, providing clarity concerning your business’ financial health. Also, automated time tracking reduces unplanned overtime by keeping your workers on track with clear-cut deadlines for every task in their workflows.

Additionally, better employee data management leads to more effective project management. With all the information in front of you, you can easily tell the burn on your project, what to do next, and who’s available for certain tasks. Likewise, it can show you which tasks take up the bulk of workers’ time and reveal which employees are most efficient at certain tasks. Simply put, time tracking helps you better understand how things run so you can tweak your personnel assignments and processes to improve time management.

You can give them time entry-only access that prevents them from accessing the rest of your information, and you can add as many users as you like without affecting the number and cost of your QuickBooks licences. To track employee time, take the following steps:

  1. Click the Employees option at the top menu and select Enter Time
  2. To create a weekly timesheet, click Use Weekly Timesheet.
  3. Choose an employee in the Name drop-down list.
  4. If you must bill the time, choose a customer and service item, and mark the time as billable.
  5. Choose a payroll item for the time.
  6. Enter the number of hours worked in the column for the day.
  7. Repeat the above steps to fill out the time sheet for the week.
