The top 10 accounting product innovations in Canada unveiled at Get Connected 2024

Canadian accountants and bookkeepers are essential to the success of small businesses. They go to great lengths to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals, which is why they are our most important partners in powering prosperity and together, we thrive.

We invited the accounting community to join us in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal for  Get Connected  by QuickBooks, where we were able to discuss hot topics within the industry, learn from each other’s experiences, and fuel professional growth while getting inspired to achieve new success.

We were also able to unveil the latest innovations to our platform that help supercharge efficiencies, accelerate client success, and power your growth.

To continue supporting the success of accounting professionals and small businesses alike, we’re excited to highlight a few of the innovations that will help accelerate the growth and scale of our customers across Canada.

  1. Your Books is getting “Advanced”: We are extending the functionality of QuickBooks Online Advanced to Your Books in QuickBooks Online Accountant to deliver powerful delegation, collaboration and automated workflows that will allow customers to operate at enhanced levels of efficiency across the firm. This will also include reporting customization, performance insights and powerful accounting functionality to save time.
  2. New Custom Reports: In addition to the ready-made reports, we launched a Custom Reports feature in QuickBooks Online Accountant to select, group and arrange data exactly how our customers want to see it in a report.
  3. Self-serve Payroll corrections: To help reduce the administrative hurdles of Payroll, accountants and bookkeepers will soon be able to deploy self-serve functionality for Payroll corrections. What’s more, they can now choose to have their clients manage their Payroll subscriptions directly -– this means the tracking of per-employee fees associated with their client’s Payroll subscription can be shifted to the clients themselves.
  4. Greater flexibility to reclassify suppliers: To enhance the flexibility when reclassifying suppliers in the bank feed, users can now change suppliers or accounts directly from the categorized section of the bank feed after the transaction is categorized.
  5. Payee automation: If a Payee or Vendor isn’t entered when creating or matching a transaction, clients miss out. This new optional solution automatically suggests payees in new transactions and matches payees to existing transactions, saving “scroll time” on each money out transaction in the QuickBooks bank feed.
  6. Late fees: Soon, late fees can be activated from a client’s Settings tab within QuickBooks Online, giving them the option to choose to charge late fees as a flat fee or as a percentage of the outstanding balance. If a client only wants to reserve late fees for certain repeat offenders, they can selectively enable late fees through each customer’s Customer Profile tab.
  7. Split Screen view: Instead of toggling between tabs, users can take advantage of the new Split Screen view feature in the QuickBooks Desktop app so they can compare a journal entry to an invoice or bill with ease.
  8. Offline Mode: For customers who are working on-the-go, activating Offline Mode allows them to continue working without an active Internet connection and have their changes synced once they return online.
  9. Bank-to-bank Payments offering: For clients who need a faster way to get paid on larger invoices, this fall a native bank-to-bank payments experience will be rolling out, which is optimized for speed and reliability for payors, as well as affordability for merchants.
  10. Accept more payments: Soon, merchants will be able to accept American Express payments through QuickBooks Payments, followed closely by PayPal acceptance.

We are constantly listening to feedback from the accounting community and incorporating their suggestions into our ecosystem to provide the tools they need to succeed.
