I purchased a laptop which came with Windows 11. When I installed the 2023 desktop edition, it gave me a warning that the PDF component was missing. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it with the same message. I ran updates, thinking the Intuit would have a fix for a windows 11 problem by now. No change. I ran the Tool Hub, but even it says it is for Windows 10. Again, no change. When I try to save an invoice as pdf, it tells me it can't. How do I fix this issue? My other computer is dying so I need to be able to work on this laptop.
Hi there WJ2004,
It's important that all your transactions to be entered correctly for your books to be well-balanced. QuickBooks Desktop is a great tool able to help you keep track of sales and expenses so you can see the profit of your books. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with this error.
Thank you for trying the steps you already performed. Since the error presents itself with PDF files, I recommend making sure that your Adobe Acrobat Reader is updated to the version of Adobe Acrobat Reader specified in the Software compatibility section of this article on the System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
If the error persists after updating Adobe Acrobat Reader, or it was the right version already, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Desktop support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to view the way you've set up this program on your new computer in order to best assist with getting past the error. You can reach them using the options provided in the QuickBooks Desktop software support policies.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
HI
Ive tried to quickbooks team and they have no solutions. They only said to update to online version.
This seams very frustrating as they cant fix a small problem to help all of us in business keep running.
Let me know if anyone has a better solution to this problem.
windows 11 user

I did that also and they could not fix it. they only told me to get QB on line. looks like i have to pay monthly to use the same program I bought in 2021 and used till now. 350.00 for the CD is a lot different than 72x12=864 and year now.
You have QB Desktop 2021 with a non subscription license, correct?
Why did you need to upgrade to 2023?
I have 2021, but if you look at all the questions about windows 11 it does not matter which year you have the same problem exists. the same solutions are given and don't work. In order to keep my business running i have to go to quick books online so i can send invoices. can't print, cant email, no PDF's. Not happy with this situation. now it is going to cost me over 800.00 a year now.
Hi Tyler A
I tried that.
Please read the thread on the posts
Another option, install QB Desktop 2024. Did you encounter the same problem?
don't need 2024 not interested to add a subscription. just a fix.
You can use the trial version of 2024 to isolate the problem. Otherwise, reinstall your 2023 to make sure. Intuit won't fix anything if you're the only one having the problem.
WWWOOOWWW do you guys not read the threads. i don't need to update to 2024. this is a problem with windows 11. read all the other posts...... I'm not the only one having this problem.
I'm surprised at the answers given. even when i talk to the help line they do not understand what the program is doing. Maybe I should be talking to an actual employee that works in the quick books office.
Not getting much help here.
Hi DON N,
Windows 11 by default disables the Microsoft XPS document writer in the Windows Feature. To resolve the issue, you'll need to Turn Windows Features On. Here's how;
1. Go to your Windows START menu
2. Search TURN ON WINDOWS FEATURES ON or OFF
3. Look for MICROSOFT XPS DOCUMENT WRITER and place a checkmark in the box.
Let me know if this solves the issue for you. Your success is our number one priority and we're here to help!
wow again. i have done that and more. look at the threads.
Wow. I think Intuit should look into this issue more seriously in QB Desktop CA version. The same solution I have shared has been proven to work for US version but not for the CA version so far. Unfortunately they wouldn't bother to investigate it because the problem isn't massive.
