Bank Reconciliation with different beginning balance

I reconciled my bank account with an outstanding bill.  Then I deleted it because it was a wrong entry.  Now, by beginning balance is for by that amount

Bank Reconciliation with different beginning balance

I doesn't really matter. If you enter the correct ending balance and add the transaction you deleted to the cleared transactions, then the reconcile will balance.

Bank Reconciliation with different beginning balance

I haven't tried this yet because I don't want to add the transaction back and am wondering how next month will match the bank balance if I change it by adding the wrong transaction back.

Bank Reconciliation with different beginning balance

Hello @skitownlady,

I'm glad to see you dropping by here in the Community space. Allow me to chime in and provide additional information about reconciling an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

When you reconcile, your account in QuickBooks should always match your real-life bank and credit card statements. Only include the list of transactions shown on your statements.

There are steps you can perform if your accounts don't match your bank statements at the end of reconciliation. You can follow the instruction in the order shown in this link to get it balanced: Fix issues when you're reconciling in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you need more assistance with getting it balanced, I recommend seeking expert advice from an accountant. This way, we'll be able to ensure your books are accurate and error-free.

Also, you can run a report to help you review your reconciliation later on. For more details about the process, I've attached this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please don't hesitate to ask follow-up questions about reconciling an account. The Community is available 24/7, and we'll be sure to get back to you. Have a great day.
