Can I create a project report that will show all costs for a project?

In looking at the project overview, I have to look at labor and cost of goods separately and my vendor credit didn't show up in Cost of Goods even though it was categorized that way.  I'd like to be able to create one report that will show both labor and all material and service costs for single project by filtering by project #.

Hi there, @morrillweaver. I'm here to ensure you'll be able to run a project report containing your desired data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To achieve this, you can pull up the Project Profitability report and customize the data. Just make sure to set the correct date range so the vendor credit's value will show up in the Cost of Goods row. Also, filtering the report by project number is unavailable, you can only do it by name. As a workaround, you can rename the project and input the corresponding digits there. 

 

Once ready, here are the steps to follow to run the desired report:

 

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Project menu and select the project you need to run a report.
  2. Next, select the Project Reports tab and choose Project Profitability.
  3. Click the View button and when the report opens, select Customize.
  4. In the Report period section, set the correct date range. 
  5. Then, in the Rows/Columns field, add the column you need.
  6. After that, go to Filter and check the box for Customer. From there, select the project name.
  7. When finished, click Run report.

I know how important it is for you to view the details of your project cost by account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, the option to do so is currently unavailable. Please send feedback to our Product Developer Team. This way, they will get a great chance to know this and may add these feature enhancements in future updates.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then, click Next to submit feedback.

 

You can visit our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track the status of your submitted feedback.
