There is no concept of "file" in the cloud based accounting app. You can only export the data out as CSV/XLS by an exporter tool. Do you need to migrate data to another accounting app or else?
Thank you for your response. I'm concerned about having my clients' data in the event of a complete internet meltdown (I understand that sounds absurd.) I'm accustomed to downloading company data from QB Desktop and feel a sense of assurance when I did so. I do understand that QB servers are not part of the cloud and that data is VERY secure, however, if anything catastrophic should occur, QB Support will be inundated with requests for data. I'd like to have, in advance of such a catastrophe, enough data to rebuild my clients' company file and resume my work should that happen. I don't want to appear as an alarmist, I just want to be prepared.
You can export your data out to XLS by an exporter tool as I mentioned earlier.

Another option, export your QBO data to QBD file format regularly if required.
Hi there, whipstone-office.
I'll provide information and steps on how to export data from Quickbooks Online.
We can directly export your data from QuickBooks Online to Excel. This is the program's default file application, which enables you to save your file. Please note that we're unable to transfer the entire data. For more information, you can click on this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online. This provides details about what are the data that can be exported and imported in QBO.
Then, follow the steps below on how to export data:
1. From your QBO account, click the Gear icon in the top right corner.
2. Select Export Data under Tools.
3. You'll be asked why you're exporting. Choose an answer and click Continue.
4. In the Export Data window, select the data that you'd like to send to Excel.
5. Choose Export to Excel.
