Changing admin password across multiple companies

Hi,

I have over 50 QuickBooks Desktop company files and would like to change the admin password across all of them. I know QB makes a password reset tool, but it only works on 1 company at a time and it is for people who forgot their password. Is there a tool that will allow me the ability to automate this process without going into each company file? I guess I have the same question for users. Is there a tool that allows me to assign users and passwords across multiple desktop company data files?

Thanks in advance

Changing admin password across multiple companies

Resetting admin passwords that apply to all users is a convenient feature for every user who manages multiple companies, RZOBill. I encourage you to discuss this with our product developers in QuickBooks Desktop.

Managing passwords across multiple QuickBooks Desktop company files can indeed be challenging, especially when dealing with a large number of files. However, QuickBooks Desktop doesn't offer a built-in tool to automate changing admin passwords or assigning user permissions across multiple company files simultaneously.

What we can do is to manually open each company file and alter the admin password individually. We recognize that this is time-consuming nonetheless, it ensures each file is updated with the new password without issues.

In the meantime, we can share some feedback about this option. This way, they can learn more about the features that business owners need. The more requests we receive, the greater chance they will include it in future updates.
