Connecting to an external approval app called Approvalmax to a QBO company tied to QBOA accountant.
So in Approvalmax app the account is setup as organisation connected to QBO via QBOA (2Tier). The Accountant (QBOA) books is not integrated with Approvalmax as there is no need for that for the Accountant.
Question: In future if in QuickBooks the QBO company wants to divorce the relationship with the QBOA accountant, how will this impact it's Approvalmax integration? This is because as stated, it is connected from Approvalmax to QBO indirectly via QBOA.
Assume that the QBO company wants to retain the Approvalmax integration.
a) Will nothing change and the account owner in Approvalmax be able to run and manage QBO Company as usual, Or
b) would the Approvalmax account owner have to disconnect the indirect (QBOA-QBO) connection from inside Approvalmax and then reconnect again but now directly with QBO Company (because QBOA would not have QBO as the client anymore now).
If above are not the steps then what are they?
Approvalmax support was not able to assist. They said I should check with QB as the linking between the organisation set in Approvalmax with the QBO company in QuickBooks has to have the same "Connection ID" as before otherwise the reconnection would not work.
The thing to note is that the QBO company would not change. That remains the same.
Help please. This is for my future knowledge.
Thanks for explaining your concern in such a great detail, HAM9. I'm here to share how you can continue using the ApprovalMax.
Once you're no longer a client, the QuickBooks Online Accountant owner will have to disconnect the connection inside the ApprovalMax. Then, they'll have to integrate your QuickBooks Online account directly.
To learn more about how this program works with QuickBooks Online, I've added this article: ApprovalMax.
Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about this. I'm always here to share more details. Keep safe always!
@CharleneMaeF thanks for your reply. Could you clarify the order in which the steps should occur for my knowledge. Is it in the following order?
1. Disconnect inside Approvalmax the QuickBooks organisation.
2. QBO company divorces the relationship with QBOA Accountant from QuickBooks.
3. Inside Approvalmax the same Account Owner reconnects the same organisation with the QBO company directly using the QBO Primary Admin credentials and not the past QBOA credentials since the two are not divorced.
Above will greatly help for my future knowledge. Thanks
I mean "now divorced"and not "not divorced", sorry for the typo in the last line of the penultimate paragraph above of above latest post.
Thank you for the detailed post, HAM9.
I’m here to ensure your concern about the order in the disconnection process for Approval Max is address to the right channel.
In situations like this, I still recommend contacting the application’s customer service. They can explain in detail the flow of the integration process including the unlinking and reconnecting procedure. From there, you’ll know whose credentials to enter (Primary Admin or QBOA) to reconnect the app.
This information should point you in the right direction about your concern, HAM9.
This reference contains a video tutorial and instructions about connecting an app in the online program: HOW TO USE QUICKBOOKS APPS. The article is from another region, but the information still applies in the US version.

@Rasa-LilaM I have already mentioned that. The Approvalmax Support has no answer and they ask me to contact QuickBooks.
