I'm here to ensure you can process your credit card payments, @Poolpro607.

The "payments authentication failed" error message can be triggered by a variety of factors, including incorrect credentials, connectivity issues, and an outdated version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To resolve this, first ensure that you are using the correct credentials and have a stable internet connection.

If the issue persists after verifying these, the next step is to manually update your  QBDT by following these steps:

  1. Close your company files and QBDT.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QBDT. Right-click the icon and choose Run as administrator.
  4. Once you're on the No Company Open screen, navigate to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Move to the Options tab, check the Mark All box, and click Save.
  6. Switch to the Update Now tab and tick the Reset Update checkbox.
  7. When you're ready, click on Get Updates.

After the update is complete, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To complete the installation of the updates, click Yes. Once the installation finishes, restart your computer.

Then, unlink and relink your QuickBooks Payments account to your QBDT to refresh its connection. Once done, process your credit card payments.

Additionally, you can check this article about personalizing your reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please return to this thread if you have other concerns with processing your credit card. We're here to help.
