Welcome to the community, Getinsured. Please confirm whether you are referring to an issue with the Chart of Accounts or an incorrectly set Fiscal Year date. I'd happily clarify the differences between these two and help you resolve the issue.
In QBO, the As of field in the Chart of Accounts can only be set once and cannot be changed. If the account has no transactions or beginning balance, you can deactivate it and create a new one with the correct date. If the account has a balance or entries, transfer these before deactivating to maintain accurate financial records. I am here to assist you through the process of deactivating an account and creating a new one.
Here's how to make it inactive:
- Navigate to the Transactions menu, then choose the Chart of Accounts tab.
- Locate the account set up incorrectly.
- In the Action column, click the drop-down menu and select Make Inactive.

Once done, you can create a new account with your desired date.
For further instructions on what to do before deactivating your account, please refer to this article: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.
On the other hand, if you're concern is about the Fiscal Year, you can adjust the date of it. Altering the Fiscal Year affects how dates are displayed on your reports, but your actual data remains intact. This allows for flexible historical data review.
Here's how to modify the date of your fiscal year:
- Go to the Gear icon (Settings).
- Under the Your Company column, select the Account and Settings.
- Choose the Advanced tab and click the Pencil icon of the Accounting section.
- From there, change the date of your Fiscal year then click Save then Done.
