Greetings, @Annette C.
It's nice to have you in the Community. I'd be happy to help share some information about sorting reports by account numbers in numerical order.
QuickBooks re-sorts lists based on the first three digits of the Item or Account number. If you have multiple accounts or items listed, your Chart of Accounts or Item List may be out of order numerically.
If your business process requires account numbers to be sorted in order, a possible workaround is to have a 1 to 3-digit number prefixed to each item or account number. For example: 01-100, 02-1010, 03-10000.
Another option is to change the order manually. Just click the diamond icon before the account number, then drag it where you want it. However you arrange them, it will automatically change in your reports.
After that, you'll be able to print the report with the account numbers in order. Also, I'm adding this article for additional reference: Understand QuickBooks Chart of Accounts.
If you need to reach out for more help, our phone agents will be able to help you get to a resolution quickly.
Here's how you can reach them:
- Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
- Select your QuickBooks Desktop version at the top right.
- Select a topic.
- Click the green Get Phone Number button to see the support number.
That should do it. Drop a comment below if you have any other questions about printing a report by account numbers in order. I'd be happy to help you further.
