Hello ! How to make sales by product summary year over year, but only a year to date comparison ... I don't see a " compare another period " option in the report options

Let me help you run your sales report, this year to date.

Here’s how.

1. Go to Reports on the right side menu.
2. Select, Sales by Product/Service Summary.  
3. Below the Report period, click the drop-down arrow and select, this year to date.
4. Once done, click Run report.

You can now see your reports from the specific date that you need.

Yes thank you -- the question is though to get it year over year, year to date , as a comparison .. 1/1/2020 through 4/19/2020 sales by product/ service compared to the same sales period for 2019 ..Thanks

It's good to have a report showing the comparison of each transaction. However, as of the moment, that feature isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In the meantime, you can run your sales report per year by following the steps given by my colleague. 

Once done, you can export the reports to excel where you can consolidate the data.

Here's how:

1. Select Reports.
2. Run the Sales by Product/Service Summary.
3. At the top of the report, select the Export icon. Then select Export to Excel.
4. Save the file where you can easily find it.

Yes .. Thanks very much ..The report currently allows comparison of year over year , of 2020 year to date , compared to the entirety of 2019 ...I think it's reasonable to suggest that this report allow comparison of apples and apples , that is , comparing year to date for 2020 to 2019 same year to date, year over year .. I think there's a suggestion place where I'll suggest that .. Appreciate your help ..

I'll show you how:

1. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
2. Type in your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
3. You'll be given a list of suggested Help articles associated with your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

Is this feature available on any Quickbook format, like for instance we use Quickbooks desktop and are trying to do the same thing as the previous poster. This feature seems pretty crucial for most businesses. 

Thanks for joining this thread, User_1234. I'd like to provide some info about comparing reports in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

The option to compare another period for the Sales by Product Summary Reports isn't currently available in the Desktop platform. However, some users have found it helpful to export the two (or more) periods of the report to Excel and compare them there.
