Welcome to QuickBooks, Luiz! Allow me to assist you in recording your expenses to ensure your books are accurate.

While QuickBooks Online (QBO) allows you to manage both personal and business expenses, it's not advisable to mix your personal expenses with your business expenditures.

To keep your records accurate, I suggest manually recording the business portion of your water bill ($60) in QuickBooks, rather than uploading and splitting the full amount ($100).

Here's how:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Choose Bill.
  3. In the Vendor field, select the appropriate vendor.
  4. For Terms, select the payment terms from the vendor.
  5. Enter the Bill dateDue date, and Bill no. as they're recorded on the bill.
  6. In the Category, fill in the relevant information.
  7. Enter the Amount and tax.
  8. Once you’re done, select Save and Close.

After that, you can pay your bills in QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Select + New, then Pay bills.
  2. Navigate to the Payment Account section and select the account from which you want to pay the bill.
  3. Enter the Payment date.
  4. Select the bill you have paid or wish to pay.
  5. Click Save.

On top of that, I recommend consulting with your accountant to ensure your books are well-organized and your expenses are recorded appropriately, especially when dealing with personal and business expenses.

Unless 60% of your home is dedicated home office space, the IRS generally allows you to deduct the same percentage for utilities as the percentage of your home used for business.

From IRS Pub. 587:

Utilities and services. Expenses for utilities and services, such as electricity, gas, trash removal, and cleaning services, are primarily personal expenses. However, if you use part of your home for business, you can deduct the business part of these expenses. Generally, the business percentage for utilities is the same as the percentage of your home used for business.
