How can I save a back up of my data, even if Quickbooks does it automatically?

I understand that QuickBooks Online automatically saves my data, but how do I save a copy for my own records?

If you are not using QBO Advanced, you can use a 3rd party backup restore app.

Another option, convert your data to get a QB Desktop file format. You can use the trial version to open it later.

How can I save a back up of my data, even if Quickbooks does it automatically?

Welcome to the Community. I gladly share some details about creating a backup in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, mark-gadley.

 

We value your data security. With that said, QBO automatically backs your data up in our cloud server every night. We always ensure to keep your data safe and secure. For more details, check out this article: Do I Need To Back Up My Data with QBO? 

 

If you are using the QuickBooks Online Advanced version, we can turn on the Online Backup and Restore app feature. QuickBooks automatically backs up your data and once it’s complete, it’ll track any changes made to your company data. Then you can restore a backup at any point in time. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu. 
  2. Select Back up company. You might need to sign in to your Intuit account, and then select Authorize to proceed.

If not, we can export your data to an Excel file and save it on your local drive, then utilize a third-party application to access your file in QuickBooks Online. Here's how to Export the data:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu. 
  2. Under Tools, select Export Data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the slider.
  5. Press Export to Excel.
