How do I access multiple QB instances from a single login? one is QBO, and the other is QBSB? thank you.

I've recently taken over the bookkeeping functions that have mostly fallen fallow since December. Turns out that we use QBO for the bulk of the transactions for the more active business, and QBSB for the smaller company. According to the owner, the bookkeeper login ID has access to both accounts, but I'm not seeing how to switch to the other.

We're glad you come back here, @accounting-mydef.

I see how challenging it is on your end to follow my colleague's steps and achieve your goal of finding your client's account. Let me add info and provide the best action to attain your goal.

Before anything else, we'd like to learn if there's an exact error in why you're unable to access your client's account.

If there's no error, you can access their account if you're invited as an accountant to their company. However, if you're not yet invited, we can guide your clients on how to send you an invitation.

For QuickBooks Online (QBO) clients, here's how:

  1. They should sign in as a primary admin. Select Settings , then Manage users.
  2. Click the Accountants or Accounting firms tab.
  3. Let them type your email address, then tap Invite.

Check out this article for more info: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.

Then, follow these steps for QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) clients:

  1. From their QuickBooks Self-Employed, pick Settings ⚙, then  Accountant.
  2. In the Accountant email field, let them type your email address.
  3. Click Send invitation.
  4. Tap Text a code to verify your identity. This sends a verification code to their registered mobile number.
  5. Enter the code in the Verification code field, then click Continue.

You can read this article for more details: Invite an accountant to review your books in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

After they send the invites, you'll receive an email notification as an accountant and click the Accept button. Then, follow the on-screen setup.

If you want to keep track of your client lists, you can read this article: Manage clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

What is QBSB? QuickBooks Self Employed, QuickBooks Solopreneur, or else?

How do I access multiple QB instances from a single login? one is QBO, and the other is QBSB? thank you.

Hi! Thank you for asking, and confirming my understanding.

I'd asked her the very same thing, and she said, "I know it's called Quickbooks Small Business."

But I couldn't find anything on QBSB, so I guess the next question is how do I find out which accounts she has I can find this out?

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. I'll gladly answer your questions so you can start managing your client's QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other companies.

Accessing multiple QB companies from a single login is achievable if you're using QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) and your client invited you to be the bookkeeper for their companies. If this is your current situation, you can switch between different business accounts using the Go to QuickBooks button or by clicking the Clients tab and selecting the company you want to work with. Here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online Accountant account.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the Go to QuickBooks button or Clients tab.
  3. Select the company you wish to work with. If you wish to switch between different account, select Go to QuickBooks button or Clients tab.

If you don't see these options, you'll want to ask your client to invite you to their companies. For more details, feel free to check this page:  Add clients to QuickBooks Online Accountant.

To verify what accounts or subscriptions your client uses, you'll want to check the Subscription and Billing section by clicking the Gear icon on the top-right corner. If you're not using QBOA, you'll need to ask your clients for access to their companies. However, accessing both firms in a single click won't work since they don't share the same portal. You'll need to switch between firms so you can continue bookkeeping.
