Join nowI have 2018 QB Pro Desktop. When I set it up I set up a dummy company in my and my wife's name under her now defunct NetZero email address. I did this for tax purposes thinking I could track our income expenditures for income taxation because we were being audited at the time. Now that we want to use the software I've had to create a new company, using our company's name Divine Life Change and registered that under my wife's new email address since she is the sole owner of the business.
What I want to do is
QuickBooks tech help has not been helpful with this they have my wife's TDL and sales receipt. What they want us to do is buy the 2021 version. This is frustrating because our IRS auditor told us to use QuickBooks for our business. We've been told the online subscription is not user friendly. All we want is one version for a company with no more than 20 employees.
Welcome to the Community space, Divine Life Change.
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) releases a new version every year and only supports the software for up to 3 years. If you're using QuickBooks for basic accounting and record-keeping purposes, then you can continue to use the QuickBooks Desktop 2018 version.
However, if you have add-on services such as payroll, online banking, and merchant services, I recommend upgrading the software to a supported version.
Let me break-down the things you want to achieve to make sure I'd be able to address them all.
For the first goal, you can use the Close Company option under File. I'll show you the complete steps below:
1. Go to the File menu.
2. Click Close Company.
3. Select the Edit List button.
4. Put a check-mark next to the company file you want to delete.
5. Hit OK.
For updating your company's email address, you can visit this article for details on how to do so: Update the email address you use for QuickBooks Desktop.
Lastly, I'll add some articles as your reference in setting up a company file in QuickBooks Desktop:
Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with managing companies in QuickBooks I've got your back. Have a good day.
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about deleting companies and changing the company email address. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at any time.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
