This report is really important and need to be ran every month.
If QBO doesn't have it, QB should at least provide a custom report to get the required information

This is a very important report, I have to run it every month.

If QBO doesn't do it, QB should provide a custom report to fix the problem at least temporally.

How do I get a sales tax liability report in QBO that includes the same info the desktop version had?

I can see all of the important columns necessary to process my Sales Tax for the state, however, none of the columns have a total at the bottom of each column. I see

Gross Sales broken down by county - No Totals at the bottom of the column

Non-Taxable Sale broken down by county - No Totals

Taxable Amount broken down by county - No Totals

Tax Amount broken down by county - No Totals.

How do I find a Sales Tax Liability Report that shown the Totals of each column?

How do I get a sales tax liability report in QBO that includes the same info the desktop version had?

Hello there. I've got some information to share about finding a Sales Tax Liability Report showing each column's Totals in QuickBooks Online.

At the moment, QBO shows only the total amount for the Tax column. I recommend providing feedback for the summary of each column in the report to be displayed. Your suggestions will then go to our product developers for review. This helps them make your QBO experience better. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type in your product suggestions.
  4. Lastly, hit Next to submit.

For future reference, open the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests webpage to keep track of request updates.

Alternatively, you can run the Sales by Customer Detail or Product/Service Detail report. Then, modify them to show your desired information. Here's how:

  1. Open the Reports menu.
  2. Search for the report and click to open it.
  3. Set all the necessary filters.
  4. Click on Customize, then go to Rows/Columns.
  5. Hit Change columns and put a check on the following items (Tax name, Taxable Amount, Tax Amount, Taxable)
  6. Once done, click on Run reportSee the following screenshots for reference:

The Sales by Customer Detail report:

The Sales by Product/Service Detail:

Otherwise, you can export your report to Excel and make customizations from there.

I'll also add this guide for you to know more about managing sales taxes: Set up, edit, and deactivate your sales tax rate and settings.

Don’t hesitate to tap the Reply button below if you have other questions or concerns. I’ll be here to help. Stay healthy and always take care!

What report did you use that gave you the nontaxable amount and total sales?  That's what I'm in need of now.  I need total sales broken down by our two states that we charge tax in.

We can run the Sales Tax Liability Report to show the nontaxable amount and total sales in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @JarsInc. Allow me to outline the steps for you.

The Sales Tax Liability Report summarizes your taxable and non-taxable sales, plus the total sales tax you collected from customers. Also, you can click the amount of each total in the report to view the included transactions. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the Find report by name field, locate and open the Sales Tax Liability Report.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. From the General dropdown, choose a Report period and Tax agency.
  5. From the Rows/Columns dropdown, click the Change Columns link.
  6. Put a checkmark on the Tax name, Gross Total, Non-Taxable, Taxable Amount, and Tax Amount columns.

  7. You can also customize it further to add the details you need. Then hit Run report to save changes.

How do I get a sales tax liability report in QBO that includes the same info the desktop version had?

Thanks!  This is great.  But the one thing I still need to be able to see on this report is the total sales for the entire month, regardless of what the tax entity was.  For example, we don't collect tax in New Mexico because all of our customers are tax exempt.  However, when I file my taxes info for New Mexico, I have to report the total gross sales for the month since our business is located in NM.  The Sales Tax Liability Report from the desktop version of Quickbooks would give me that total.  The version of this report in the online version does not.  What I want is the Sales Tax Liability Report in the online version to be the exact same report that I was getting in the desktop version.

  3. Select Feedback under Profile.
