How do I get QB to reimburse me for the $1750 that I had to pay an accountant to fix the transfer errors from desktop to online? QBO is an embarrassment.

I switched to QBO because desktop is not going to be supported.  It's obvious that QBO was never supported.  It is not logical like desktop.

How do I get QB to reimburse me for the $1750 that I had to pay an accountant to fix the transfer errors from desktop to online? QBO is an embarrassment.

Hello there, BarneyH.

Dealing with the transfer error from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) can be challenging, especially when hiring an accountant for assistance. I'm here to guide you in the right direction to handle this matter.

Regarding your first concern, we're unable to provide reimbursement for the amount paid for hiring an accountant to assist with the transfer problem from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QBO.

Knowing how your QBDT data is converted to QBO is important. Both programs have different user interfaces and platforms, so the appearance of your books may vary. Find more details in this reference: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

To get back on track, you may want to switch to the desktop program again and upgrade the one you've previously used to the latest version (2024) before it becomes discontinued. Also,  there will be a change in the availability of certain products for new U.S. subscribers after July 31, 2024.

This reference addresses any questions about this update, including the affected desktop versions: QuickBooks Desktop to stop selling to new U.S. subscribers. I

Before getting the latest version, your computer must meet the system requirements to ensure it's compatible with your setup. Also, create a backup copy of your company file to prevent accidental loss.

When you open QBDT, you'll be notified about the availability of a new version. We already simplified the upgrade process to make it convenient for you:

  1. When you’re ready, click the Upgrade Now button.
  2. Choose Keep old version on my computer if you want to keep your current QuickBooks.
  3. Select Let’s go and then QuickBooks downloads, installs, and activates the new version for you, including the company file.
  4. Once completed, tap the Open QuickBooks button.

If you didn't see the pop-up, configure your one-time message prompts.
Here's how:

  1. In your company file, head to the Edit menu at the top bar and choose Preferences.
  2. Go to the General menu and select My Preferences.
  3. Tick the Bring back all one-time messages box and click the OK button.

After performing these steps, close and reopen your QuickBooks to apply changes. From there, you'll see a notification to upgrade. Click this link for in-depth information about the process: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise

Once completed, update your company file to ensure it functions properly in the latest QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise

In case you need more information on how to use QBO or perform a particular task, these resources have you covered with various topics and online tutorials:

Feel free to reach out to me if you come across any challenges during your transition back to QBDT or if you need further details about QBO. I'm more than willing to assist you further, BarneyH.

@BarneyH

I switched to QBO because desktop is not going to be supported

You can still use QB Desktop 2024 and Intuit will support it until 2027.
