How do I send a copy of my QuickBooks data to my tax accountant?

I need the full year data for my accountant.  I used to send them a back up file,  but never used on line before.  Can someone help me?

How do I send a copy of my QuickBooks data to my tax accountant?

Your accountant is using QB Desktop Premier Accountant and TurboTax Desktop, correct?

You need to install the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 Pro to convert data from QB Online and send the backup file to your accountant. If you use the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 Enterprise, you will need to purchase a 3rd party service to downgrade the file.

It's a pleasure to have you here in the Community space.

We see the urgency of this matter and want to ensure we're providing the details you need to get through this and provide your QuickBooks Data to your Accountant. Currently, the option you're trying to access is available in the Advanced version of QuickBooks Online (QBO). If it's the subscription that you're using, feel free to visit this page for further guidelines about the process: Back up and restore your QuickBooks Online Advanced Company.

In case you're not using QBO Advanced, you can consider inviting your accountant as a user inside the company file so they can manage your data. We'll be happy to write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon and then select Manage users.
  3. Click the Accountants or Accounting firms tab.
  4. Enter your accountant’s email address, then select Invite.

For more information, please see this page: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, here's an article to help you manage users and keep track of changes made inside the program:
