Qne QBO account is for one company file. You can use QB Desktop to manage multi company files.

Let me address queries about adding a new business to the online version, @brad109.

 

I agree with @Chrea that QuickBooks Online(QBO) only allows one company file per QBO account. You'll need to sign up for a separate QuickBooks Online account to create another company.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Visit the QuickBooks pricing page and select the QBO plan you want.
  2. Enter your existing Intuit login credentials. 
  3. In the bottom part, click Create a new company.
  4. Fill out the billing info and click Subscribe.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the signup process.

You can also use one user ID to access multiple companies in QBO and switch from one company to another.
