I can't see the "apps" option on my lefthand tool bar, so I can't add shopify connector. I have QBO essentials. How do I turn this on?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. Let me discuss how the Apps menu works in QuickBooks. Then, ensure you can see the said option by performing the troubleshooting steps below.

 

There are features that are only available for certain subscription levels. With this, the Apps menu is available in QBO Essentials and there's no option to turn this on. This is because it'll automatically appear on the left panel. I've added a screenshot below for visual reference.

 

 

Since you're unable to see the said option, a cache full of history and temp files might be the reason you're unable to see the Apps menu. I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. Then, access the Apps from there.

 

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

 

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

 

If it works in incognito, you'll have to clear the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Unfortunately, neither process you mentioned worked for me to see the apps option.  Is this something that only the admin user can see?  I do the bookkeeping and want to set up the shopify connector - but perhaps I don't have the rights to see the apps?
