I want to run a report of all the projects that are "In progress" by customer. I don't need costs, etc - just the list of projects.

I can see the importance of being able to sort the report by customer. I have some options that I can suggest on what you can do about it, weeks.

Using the Projects feature, aside from having the option to add income, expenses, and labor costs, you can run project-specific reports from a single dashboard.

You'll want to run the Project Profitability report by project so it will show up per customer's data or export the report to an Excel file so you can sort the information from there. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Projects tab.
  2. Select the report you want to export.
  3. At the top of the report, select the Export icon. Then select Export to Excel.
  4. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

To know more about how you can export reports so you can use them outside QuickBooks, learn from this article for more details: Export Your Reports To Excel From QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, learn how you can save current customization settings for reports in QuickBooks. Check out this article for reference: Memorized Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions using project reports. I'll be right here in case you need further assistance.

Hi there, mweeks

Allow me to guide you in running a Project report in QuickBooks Online.

This will show the operating costs of each project, so we only need to filter the ones that are currently In progress.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Search and select the Project Profitability Summary report
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Change the Report period.
  5. Expand the Filter section.
  6. In the Project Status filter, select In Progress.
  7. Click Run report.

I've added this article to learn more about the different options to personalize your reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Since this is a project profitability report, you can also consider exporting the data to Excel and sorting it by customer.

I'll be checking this thread if you still have other concerns about reports and projects. Have a great day!

Thank you. This is helpful to see all the In progress projects. But, I want to sort by customer and I don't see that option. Am I missing it? Thanks!
