QBSE is a standalone product and is not the same as QB Online. You can only convert data from QB Desktop to QB Online.

Thanks for the reply's. I have QB pro 2013 which has always been over kill for me. I'm part time self employed with no payroll etc.
Can I use Simple Start or Essentials to import a csv file into? One of those two is what I started to get but saw self employed and was wanting to play with online stuff to see liked it ... thinking it's the same thing just having more features added with each QB plan.
So the question is can I use Simple Start or Essentials to import my a file into?

You may need to install the trial license for QBD 2021 or 2022 to upgrade your file before converting it to QB Online.

The version of QuickBooks Online you'll use will depend on the business type that you have. You'll need to choose a plan that can help file your tax return.

About moving to QuickBooks Online (QBO), Fiat Lux - ASIA is right. You need the latest version since we no longer support QuickBooks Desktop 2013.
Hence, you can download a trial version of QuickBooks Desktop. Then, move your QuickBooks company file to QBO.
