Import Multiple Invoices without Custom Transaction #'s on.

Hi,

We are doing our invoicing in our Warehouse Management System and creating the "invoices" there. While these are considered invoices, they are only billing summaries of transactions.

I want to import multiple invoices, but I want Quickbooks to use the next invoice # instead of forcing me to input invoice numbers on the import. This is because my WMS isn't always sequential numbers, so I want the invoice numbers to be controlled by Quickbooks.

I am running into the issue of not being able to import invoices without invoice numbers initially.

Is there any way to go around this?

Import Multiple Invoices without Custom Transaction #'s on.

Hello there, @Mragu18. Let's get you through this so you can import invoices inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Reading your post, the option to input a custom transaction number may be active in your QBO. That said, you'll want to ensure that the option to enter a custom invoice or transaction number is disabled inside your company file. This way, QBO can take control of the numbering sequence and follow the next transaction number for your imported invoices. We'll be happy to write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon and then select Account and settings.
  3. Select Sales.
  4. In Sales form content, select Edit ✎.
  5. Turn Custom transaction numbers off.
  6. Select Save, then select Done.

For more details, please see this article: Add custom transaction numbers to sales forms in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, try importing your invoices again. Feel free to refer to this page for more details: Import multiple invoices at once in QuickBooks Online.
