In an ACH transfer to pay a credit card. If there isn't enough money in the main QB checking account, will the money be withdrawn from an "envelope" that has funds?

If the main QuickBooks checking account lacks sufficient funds for a credit card payment via ACH transfer, the funds in the envelope cannot be automatically withdrawn, @illusions1.

The envelope serves as a savings account for future expenses. You will need to transfer the funds back to your main QB checking account to use them for paying a credit card.

To transfer the money back to the main checking account, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Money.
  2. Select Banking, then choose the desired envelope to withdraw money.
  3. Select Transfer money, then Transfer out.
  4. Enter the amount you want to take out in Amount.
  5. Select QuickBooks Checking in From.
  6. Make sure the correct envelope is selected in From then select Next.
  7. Select Finish transfer, then Done when the transfer finishes.
    • In QuickBooks Money Mobile, select Continue when the transfer finishes.
