Income Accounts tied to Invoices

Currently the way my system is set up is that on an invoice I have multiple line items of services and products.  Each one of those services and products are tied to an income account.  For instance, I might have a service item of pool cleaning that is tied to a pool cleaning income account and then a line item for a product such as chlorine that is tied to an income account for chemical sales.

Sometimes I just sell chlorine and want it to go to chemical sales, but when I'm cleaning a pool for a customer and add chlorine as part of that service I would like the total invoice including the chemicals to track to the pool cleaning income account.

I thought I read somewhere that the Contractor edition of QB Enterprise might be able to allow you to assign a total invoice to an income account.  Does anyone have any information on this topic?

Income Accounts tied to Invoices

Welcome to the Community space, @Clear Pools.

We see how it would be beneficial to track your chlorine product and cleaning pool service in one income account. Let me share insights about assigning an income account.

Please know that you can only link one item to one account. However, you also have the option to modify or remove them.

Here's how:

  1. Select Lists, then select Item List (for Windows) or Items (for Mac).
  2. Double-click the item you want to change.
  3. Edit the info for the item.
  4. Select OK.

On top of that, I'd highly recommend consulting your accountant so you’ll be able to handle the income in your book correctly.
