I have a new client who is currently using QB Online Advanced. I use QB Accountant Online. They would like to transfer their files and subscription to me as a Client of my QB Accountant. Is this possible?

Move QB Advanced to QB Accountant Client

Hi, @dtravis. I'm here to help you out.

We can efficiently transfer files and subscriptions from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA).

Before transferring files and subscriptions, we have to ask your client to invite you to become their accountant. Doing so you'll have access to your client's books, make necessary changes, and collaborate on any queries.

Also, you will have to be added as a primary admin to be able to handle your client's billing charges.

Here's how:

  1. Ask your client's primary admin to sign in to QBO.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Under the Profile column, select Subscription and billing
  4. Choose the Billing & Subscription tab.
  5. Click the Allow billing transfer to your accountant link.

After doing the mentioned steps, we can now finish the transfer. To do that, we have to:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Go to the Client-billed subscriptions tab.
  3. Review the Eligible to transfer column. If it says "Yes," you can transfer them to your firm-billed subscriptions.
  4. Select Transfer billing to me.
  5. Follow the steps to add them to your firm-billed subscriptions.

For more information, browse this article: Transfer clients to your firm-billed subscriptions

Additionally, I'll add this article about taking over billing for clients who currently pay for their own QuickBooks Online subscription: Transfer clients to your ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing program in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have more questions, I'll be more than happy to assist you. Stay safe always.
