I understand how inconvenient it can be to run into login issues, Pwoolly. Rest assured that I will help you sort this out.

The error message you're encountering can be due to a connectivity issue with the app or a temporary glitch. Here are several troubleshooting steps you can consider to fix it:

  • Ensure you're connected to a stable Wifi connection or good mobile data.
  • Ensure you have the latest version of the app installed on your device.
  • Clear the app's cache and data.

To clear the app's cache for Android:

  1. Go to the phone's Settings and select Apps.
  2. Find the QuickBooks Self-Employed app in the list.
  3. Pick Storage, then tap Clear data.

To clear the app's cache for iOS:

  1. From your phone's Settings, choose Settings.
  2. Click on General and choose iPhone Storage.
  3. Find the QuickBooks Self-Employed app in the list.
  4. Select an app that's taking up a lot of space. To free up the Storage without deleting the documents and data for the app,
  5. Click on the Offload App.

Once everything is up and running smoothly, take some time to categorize your transactions. This will help you keep track of your finances accurately and ensure every transaction is accounted for.

Parameter specified as non-null is null error message

I just got a new phone and am unable to login via my new phone. App still works on my old phone though. I did uninstall and reinstall the self-employed app, cleared the cache etc., but I am still getting the "parameter specified as non-null is null" error message.

Good afternoon jrbrumby,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! Thank you for clearing the cache. I have two questions that can assist us further in helping you.

  1. Are you using the QBSE app and are in the US?
  2. Are you using an Apple or Android?

I am looking forward to your reply! See you soon.

Parameter specified as non-null is null error message

Hi there, @AdkinsHI. I appreciate you taking the initiative to perform troubleshooting steps to fix the error. I'll share information about why you're experiencing this issue and provide you with a resolution.

The QuickBooks Self-Employed application was discontinued on the 24th of March 2024. Since you mentioned that you're reinstalling it, I'd like to ask where you re-downloaded it. In order to operate the application, you'll need to ensure that you get it from the app store account you used to install it.

However, if you upgraded your phone and reinstalled it, make sure it came from your App Store account history. You can refer to these links for instructions to ensure you obtained it from the same store account:

Check out this article for more information: QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app availability update.

If the issue persists, you can log in to your (QBSE) account via browser. Feel free to utilize this link to sign in: https://selfemployed.intuit.com/login.

I also recommend contacting the QBSE Live Support Team once you can sign in to help you locate the root cause of the error "Parameter specified as non-null is a null error message" when trying to log in to your mobile application.

Here's how:

  1. In the upper right corner, select the (?) Help icon beside the Assistant tab.
  2. Click the Contact Us option below.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  4. Pick either Chat or Callback.

I'll also share this article to ensure your transactions are placed into the correct accounts to avoid discrepancies: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Feel free to return here if you have additional questions about logging in to your account via the mobile app. We'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe always.
