Hello there, @Exhausted Quick-Books User.
Let me share some information about the changes to the payroll subscription rates in QuickBooks Online.
The increase in the price is due to product enhancements and future development to the product. We need to extend our resources to be able to integrate the changes with the online services platform and a gradual upgrade with the features recommended by users.
Also, I suggest you visit our QuickBooks Blog to stay updated with all the changes that are being made to the product.
I've attached an article in case you need some ideas about how to view billing statements to stay up to date with the charges on the account: View your QuickBooks Online payment history.
I'm only a few clicks away if you have any other questions. Wishing you and your business continued success.
I'm sorry, but I think the vast majority of QB users will agree that there have been no "enhancements" to the service. It remains as excruciatingly horrible as before.
You know what? I have much more important things to do than fight with the quickbooks product and then support folks (who seem like are hearing about product features for the first time on every support call). The product has gotten worse over the years. However, while we had no other options a decade ago, these days many better products exist. Xero, Freshbooks, Wave, Sage, and Gusto are all better options. The best accounting software is the one where you spend the least time.
I would recommend all startup and small business owners to evaluate the competition and make the switch. This bandaid is worth ripping off.

I am a single employee corporation. I received an email stating to keep payroll going (expires in a few weeks) I needed to spend $349.99. When I called QB about the cost, I was told it was for basic and not enhanced payroll. That basic would not allow me to print forms like 941, W2 and so on. I am currently on enhanced payroll but this is a "bait & switch", telling me to pay $349.99 and later to find out forms were not available. To bring that back the new cost was around $550. That is above and beyond what I paid last year for both enhanced partoll and the 2021 QB version at Costco. Greedy is not the word. Intuit knows that have a huge market share so that can do what they want leaving current users no choice other than pay the ransom! Time to look for other options.
Hi, I would like to introduce myself my name is Tory and I work at ADP. After reading about your current experience, Id love to get you a free quote with our services for payroll, HR and more. I can guarantee you there will be no bait and switch, you will have a dedicated person to service your account and much more. I want to be respectful of your time and mine so ill leave my email for you to reach out. I hope to hear from you, my email is [email address removed].
(ps. for the QuickBooks Admin that might delete this comment: I have lots of clients who use ADP and QuickBooks simultaneously for their business needs. My goal is to help business owners in need and this sounded like they needed a 2nd opinion.)
Maybe Quickbooks should take that money and put it all into Quickbooks Support instead of the product. That is their absolute weakest link. I have never seen more horrible customer support than what Quickbooks provides. It is simply pitiful.
