Buy nowHello, Steven.
Thanks for being part of QuickBooks! I have just the information you need to help you enter those 2021 paychecks.
I take it that you've already set up your employees. If not, you'll want to set them up properly and enter their information in QuickBooks.
Simply go to Payroll, click the Employees tab then proceed with Add employee. Enter the employee's data. Then, you'll be given an option to enter their historical paychecks (you'll still be given the option if you've already entered your employees' data).
Scroll down to Section 9, then click the Enter 2021 prior pay details link.
Entering prior paycheck details is only applicable if you haven't run payroll yet or if you're still setting up your account. If you don't see the option (if you've entered other payroll-related transactions), then you'll want to contact us.
Our agents have the tools to add your employees' historical data and ensure your payroll information is correct. Though, I'd like to do it here. However, I'm unable to access sensitive information. That said, here's how you can reach them:
If you need a reference for the steps, you can check this article: Set up a prior payroll for QuickBooks Online Payroll.
Need to ensure your payroll amounts are correct after entering prior paychecks? You can check this article for a guide on how to build a report: Run payroll reports.
I still got your back if you have more questions about setting up your payroll account. Need to do a certain tasks in QuickBooks Online (not payroll-related)? Let me know the details below and I'll help you out.
Hello James,
Thank you for your support. I followed your advice, spoke with QB, who was able to help me. It appears that I cannot enter in first quarter payroll because we did not subscribe to payroll until second quarter. However, QB did show me how to enter first quarter 2021 historic data so that payroll tax filing totals will be accurate for second quarter filings, which is yet to be seen. Apparently, I will have to adjust the first quarter payroll detail in QB with general journal entries.
Thanks again,
Steven
