Join nowThere isn't a way to hide a company file, so not sure what you're asking.
Let's first go to the Folder Options tab so you can unhide your company file, @lisa-karen-litze. Please take note that the steps below are applicable for Windows 7 and Vista. Let me guide you how.

In case you're receiving an error that a company file is missing or cannot be found, it might be disconnected from the path where the QuickBooks file is located or your company file has been deleted from your computer. There are two solutions to fix this error depending on if you're accessing the file over a network or it's saved locally on the same computer. Let me help to get this sorted out so you can open your company file, @Julie. This way, you can get back to your business right away.
The location of your company file depends on where it was originally stored. Press F2 on your keyboard to open the Product Information page to trace the .QBW file.
You can also review your backup settings to find the folder location of the backup file.
Here's how:
If you're still unable to locate it, perform a wildcard search on the computer. Type one of the following extensions in the search bar of the Start Menu. Make sure to include the asterisk (*) before the file type.
