I deleted some balances, but they are showing on an Other Miscellaneous Expense account. My audit log shows the transactions as deleted. How do I correct this?

I noticed it when I ran my Profit and Loss report, which was throwing my numbers. The expenses are completely gone, and I have been through the forums but cannot get this account to update. When I delete the account it still pulls onto my Profit and Loss report as (deleted).

Allow me to join you here and offer my help with your Profit and Loss. I'd also like to clarify if you want to restore the deleted transactions or do you want to remove the account from the report? 

 

If you want to restore the transactions, you can use the information from the Audit Log report to recreate them. Here's an article as a guide: Use the Audit Log to Re-enter Deleted Transactions.

 

You can also follow these steps if you want to remove the accounts in the report:
 

  1. Go back to the Profit and Loss report.
  2. Click Customize at the top left.
  3. Scroll-down to Rows/Columns, then set to Active for both Show rows and Show columns
  4. Select Run report.

Thank you for the information. I am trying to delete it from my report, as I do not need it. I followed your instructions for removing it, but it is not removing it from the report. I tried the combos for the different options and whenever I ran the report, that line was still showing.

My goal is to delete the line from my report. I appreciate the tips on how to remove it. However, no matter what combination I tried for the non-zero in the Rows/Columns, that account did not remove itself from my profit and loss report. Any other thoughts?

We are grateful to see you back in the Community thread. I appreciate that you followed the steps provided by my colleague. I'd be glad to provide you another workaround for removing an inactive account from your Profit and Loss report.

 

To remove an inactive account from reports, you should make it active first, then merge, move, or delete it. Please follow the steps below.

 

To make an account active again:

 

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Select the small Gear icon at the top of the Chart of Accounts window. Mark Include inactive.
  3. Select Make active on the account you want to reactivate.

 

To merge the account:

By giving the account a name that is identical to the name of the target account, you can combine it into that account.

 

  1. Search for the newly activated account, then select Edit from the Report dropdown.
  2. Add a new account name.
  3. When prompted to decide whether to merge the accounts, click Save and Close, then Yes

I figured it out. Since the expenses were tied to a vendor account that was deleted, I had to reactivate the vendor profile and then I had to re-request the expenses be deleted.
